Perdaman's new ship loader has officially arrived at the Port of Dampier marking another exciting step forward in the bulk export of urea.

  • Measuring over 40 metres long and 26 metres tall, Perdaman’s shiploader was transported all the way from Thailand and took almost a week to install.
  • Installation involved a crane lifting the shiploader from the carrier ship and positioning it onto rails at the Dampier Bulk Handling Facility.
  • Once operational, it will be used to load urea pellets produced by Perdaman's Ceres Urea Plant located in Burrup Strategic Industrial Area.
Pilbara Ports CEO, Samuel McSkimming said this was a momentous milestone for Perdaman and Pilbara Ports.

“From careful planning to precision delivery, thank you to our Pilbara Ports team and collaboration with Perdaman and Clough to make this vision a reality. Moments like this remind us of the scale, coordination and expertise that go into these successful operations."

“We’re proud to partner with Perdaman and support global urea exports, especially at a time when it is most needed.”

The Dampier Bulk Handling Facility will include a 200-metre land-backed wharf located south of the former Dampier Cargo Wharf, supported by a new berth pocket measuring 280m in length and 13.2m in depth, as well as an 11-metre-deep manoeuvring area. The facility is designed to accommodate Supramax and Panamax vessels and will support a shiploader and conveyor system for bulk urea exports. It will also be capable of handling general cargo vessels, cruise ships, and offshore oil and gas support vessels.
