Situated in the Port of Kobe, Japan’s second-largest economic hub, Konanfuto Grain Terminal Co., Ltd, handles wheat, rapeseed, raw sugar, corn, and soybeans, and primarily serves food manufacturers.

Konanfuto Grain Terminal’s private berth accommodates Panamax-sized vessels, and it has an unloader capable of unloading 10,000 tonnes per day. The terminal’s grain silo, with a storage capacity of 120,000 tonnes divided into four blocks, supports the unloading, storage, and dispatch of approximately one million tonnes of food ingredients annually.

In 2019, the terminal replaced two old unloading units with a single Bu¨hler unloader, increasing its handling efficiency and enhancing its terminal’s capacity.

Konan Pier, located at the Port of Kobe, is part of Japan’s national initiative to promote the “Hydrogen Smart City Kobe Concept.”

The city has been advancing hydrogen technology development and expanding its utilization in daily life. This includes collaborations between industry, academia, and government to push forward initiatives such as the demonstration projects for the liquefied hydrogen supply chain on Airport Island and the hydrogen fuel-based CGS (cogeneration system), positioning Kobe as a global leader in hydrogen technology.
