The Russian Baltic Port of Ust-Luga boosted throughput last year by more than 50%, equivalent to 10.3 million additional tonnes.  Coal exports grew by 19% to 7 million tonnes.  The port provides ideal access for large bulk vessels, since it offers draft of 16 metres and an approach channel of just 3.7 kilometres.  It can accept ships of up to 75,000 dwt.
