A Supramax bulk carrier operated by Croatian shipping company Atlantska Plovidba suffered a main engine failure on January 3, causing the ship to anchor in the Rio de la Plata.
Following the initial repairs, the 53,500 dwt AP Sveti Vlaho sailed under its own power to the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay, on January 4.
In Montevideo, the bulker will complete its repairs and continue its voyage to the Mediterranean, Atlantska Plovidba said in a statement.
VesselsValue’s data indicates that the ship ran aground in the Punta Indio channel, just off the Argentine coast, after its main engine failed. Although AP Sveti Vlaho was not blocking the channel, it was restricting vessel movements, the local coastguard was cited as saying.
