Santander Port Authority has approved an investment of €3.4 million to construct several concrete walls at Raos 2. The objective is to compartmentalise dry bulk cargo and, in doing so, optimise storage space and improve the protection of goods.
Port chairman, César Díaz, says that Santander is fully committed to finding solutions to increase its operational capacity. The current project aims to make it possible to store a greater quantity of dry bulk cargo on Raos 2 quay, thus making the port more efficient and competitive.
A tender for the work is expected to be released shortly, with all works completed by year end.
In other budgetary areas, Santander has approved a budget of €8.3 million for key maintenance dredging work aimed at maintaining minimum draft levels both alongside the quays and in the approach channels.
