The project logistics specialist, KOG Worldwide, and its subsidiaries have started using the Rhenus Project Logistics brand name with immediate effect. The Rhenus Group has therefore completed the integration of the project logistics specialist, which it took over two years ago, in terms of its name too. There have been no changes to the contact partners and structures within the company.
The integration of the KOG units within the Rhenus network has gradually taken place since the acquisition in February 2015; this has been strengthening the Rhenus Project Logistics business unit since then, particularly when it plans and handles individual transport services involving projects and heavy loads overland and by inland waterway/sea.
“The KOG Group has made a name for itself in the field of project freight forwarding in more than 30 years. We wanted to provide our business partners with the assurance after the acquisition that nothing would change in the company’s structure and it would be able to continue offering its customary quality and reliability. The reason for the renaming procedure at this stage is that we’d now like to use a standard brand name visibly in the market place too in order to cover all the project logistics activities within the Rhenus Group,” says Dr Tim Merklein, Managing Director of Rhenus Project Logistics, giving the reasons for the name change.
Rhenus Project Logistics therefore now has 24 companies in 20 different countries – ranging from Asia to Europe and even in North Africa and North America. New business sites were recently opened in Chicago, Bremen and Tashkent. Its customers are particularly found in the plant construction and energy sectors. The latest project involves transporting components from production sites around the globe to La Porte in the US state of Texas for the construction of a polypropylene plant.
The business unit is planning to focus even more strongly on the field of renewable energy sources and offering consultancy services through its own engineering department in future. All the project logistics sites are certified in line
with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, the ISO 14001 Environmental
Management System and the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety at
Work Assessment System.
